Bookplate for George Mathews
Bookplates
A pictorial-style bookplate in black ink on ivory paper with a double line border. The central image is of a church with a stone wall and trees surrounding it. A caption in the lower right identifies it as Blundeston Church. Inset text reads "Ex libris," and the name H. George Mathews is in a text box at the bottom in blackletter script. A stamp on the back indicates that it was owned by Captain P. Roach Pierson, Panton Hill, Victoria, Australia.

Bookplate for Percy Roach-Pierson
Bookplates
A heraldic-style bookplate in black ink on ivory paper with a double-line border. The shield bears a left-facing fish at top, and a winged wheel at the bottom, divided by a wavy double line. The shield is topped with a realistic helmet with elaborate mantling. The helmet is topped with a clawed fist holding two crossed keys. Text at the top reads “Ma foy ma roche” which loosely translated means “My faith, my rock.” At the bottom is the name Percy Roach-Peirson.
