1918 / A.M Newton

A heraldic-style bookplate in black ink on ivory paper featuring an ornate scrollwork border with leaf and green man motifs. In the center is a shield divided into two fields by an ermine chevron. There are two chess rooks in the upper field, and one in the lower field. The shield is topped with a helmet and wreath bearing a bull's head. Beneath is a scroll with the motto “Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri” which loosely translates from Latin to “Bound to swear on the master.” A scroll above reads "Ex libris," and a scroll beneath bears the name Glenn Wyatt Wolcott.
