Above and below is the text “Pia mente studeatur. In usum Academia Phillipsa Exoniensis,” which loosely translates to “Let him study with a pious mind in the service of the Academy of Phillips Exeter.” Additional text below reads, "Books on Education & Philosophy in memory of George Benjamin Rogers, Teacher and Counsellor, 1895-1936."
