Bookplate for Piscataqua Pioneers
Date Unknown / Creator Unknown
Collection: The Helen Pearson Bookplate Collection
A pictorial-style institutional bookplate in black ink on white paper, with parts hand-colored in red. There is a border of simple floral motifs, and a central scene set in a circle. The scene possibly depicts the Piscataqua River, and features a wooded shoreline with a cabin, and setting or rising sun. In the water are a sailing ship and a canoe with a single passenger. The sun and the canoe are colored red. At the top is the text "Ex Libris", and a circle around the image reads "Piscataqua Pioneers, Organized June 15, 1905." Additional text at bottom reads "Portsmouth, New Hampshire," and there is space to record "No." and "Shelf."
