A heraldic-style institutional bookplate in black ink on ivory paper with a line border. The academy's coat-of-arms is in the center, and features a lion rampant. The shield is topped with a wreath and sitting lion, and surrounded by elaborate mantling. Above is the text "“Academia Phillipsa Exoniensis, Pia mente studeatur" which loosely translates to "Phillips Exeter Academy, Let him study with a pious mind." Smaller text below reads "Ob diligentiam in Anno Domini. Praemium studiis donatum" which translates loosely to "Due diligence in the year. Prize-winning studies." Signed E.S. '06.
