A heraldic-style bookplate in black ink on ivory paper. The shield is divided in an unusual way, and resembles a triangle over a chevron. It is topped with a helmet with a wreath and small bird, and elaborate sable mantling with tassels. Beneath is a banner that reads "Grata manu" which translates from Corsican to "Grateful hand." At the bottom is the name George Olcott in blackletter script, and beneath that is "No 1099" handwritten in black ink.
