There is a drawing of an open book over a harp, with banners reading "Musica doctrina" and "Amor et natura," which translate from Latin to "Musical teaching" and "Love and nature." A laurel wreath surrounds them, and the harp is on a pedestal which reads "Take thy right" above the name Violet Makelin in an elaborate blackletter script.
