In the top portion of the image there is a knight's helmet topped with a wreath and lion's head crest, with mantling. In the lower portion is a picture of a building with a columned entrance and trees. In the foreground is a shield with a lions head in the upper left corner. Below this is a desk with various books, and a banner reading "Mediocria firma," which translates from Latin to "the middle course is most secure." A banner with the name Richard T. Lowndes in blackletter script is at the bottom.
