A heraldic-style institutional bookplate in black ink on ivory paper with a line border, featuring the coat-of-arms of Phillips Exeter Academy, which bears a lion rampant and is topped with a seated lion, and surrounded by elaborate mantling. Above and below is the text “Pia mente studeatur. In usum Academia Phillipsa Exoniensis,” which loosely translates to “Let him study with a pious mind in the service of the Academy of Phillips Exeter.” Additional text below reads, "From the Jacobs Fund, Bequest of Henry Barton Jacobs of the Class of 1879."
